One of the most frequent questions Ive been asked in the past years, besides "do you fap to your own art?" has always been "whats the difference between Shädbase and Shagbase?". The extra domain has always caused confusion to newcomers and locals alike.
To explain why I have had 2 in the first place, I need to go all the way back to 2012, where I first made Shädbase my main occupation. The way I managed to live from it was the Google Adsense advertising program, but they had a strict no porn and no nudity policy. Since I really liked to draw lewd stuff, even back then, I figured Id just make a new domain, so I can keep google ads on Shädbase without violating their policies. Shortly after shagbase.com has been created, Google adsense decided that even my old comics on Shädbase where too much for them, so they blacklisted the base from making money with their ads. That made me end up starting to draw lewd stuff for both domains, with no google rules to hold me back, I could finally do whatever I desired.
At the time Shagbase really helped me get that little extra financial income to help me get by, cause I was barely making it back then, and I used it as an excuse to display more extreme and experimental subject matter than the main crowd was used to.
As time progressed the two sites started to become more similar in content, to a point where they even showcased the same characters and kinks. I was maintaining both sites myself, and even provided content for them on a weekly basis by myself, it became quite a hassle. The addition of Spazkid and occasional guest posts, helped me maintain Shagbase longer than I thought.
But as I start to put more time into my work it became more of a chore and an afterthought some weeks to update Shagbase with something. So I figured the time has finally come to merge the two, you've made it possible for me that I no longer needed the additional ad revenue it created, cause Shädbase is making enough on its own.
Thats what I have been busy with for the past 3 days, sorry about all the downtime, weird performance issued and lack of content, the update is finally complete.
But what does this mean for the future of Shädbase?
Here are some of the changes:
-First of all, now that they are one site, that does NOT mean I will be updating less. I will still try to meet my weekly quota of 3-4 updates, but they will be more focused on the theme that is at hand, and you will get to see them all at the same place.
-The Archive has been completely overhauled, so that it will be easier for you to find stuff. Almost all the Shagbase content has been imported to Shädbase, that means even the comments themselves have made it over here safely. There are still a few older posts stuck in limbo, but I will gradually be adding them as the week progresses. In the end, all will be here.
-You can also use the searchbar to find stuff! Ive added a new more efficient code for it, that should work far better. (Feel free to ask me if you are looking for a specific post if you cant find it, and I can provide you with the link for it.)
-Shädbase has randomized backgrounds now, just like the randomized banners, there currently are 3, but I will be adding new ones in the future. Hopefully it will make your browsing experience more fun!
-The Livestreams will now be integrated with the site, you can see whenever I am live on Twitch(gaming) or Picarto(drawing) underneath the comics, since gaming streams have became a good way to get ideas with the community for Shädbase, I consider them to be a valuable addition to the site. Feel free to jump into the Stream Chats and let me know whats on your mind, I try to always read the chat.
-Since the site will be updated more often now, theres a new "recent posts" section to the bottom right of the site, so you can see which are five newest posts all at once, in case you missed something.
And last but not least, you will still be getting occasional guest posts, varied themes and characters, aswell as my constant participation in the comment section, only not divided, but standing as one.
Dont consider this the end of Shagbase, but the beginning of a bigger, better SHäDBASE.
Shädbase turned 4 years old on September 11, it has made so much possible for me, and made my life an absolute blast thanks to all you guys. I am nowhere near done, heres to another 4 years!
